The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) saw evidence of corruption against the colonel, in addition to the alleged practice of embezzling funds from the Association of Military Police Officers of the Federal District, an entity chaired by Naime.

According to the PGR, the transaction would be part of “apparently illicit economic relations” between Naime and Assis, which would possibly involve money laundering.

“The movement of large amounts in cash, without corresponding declaration and in an unofficial manner, is intended to circumvent the anti-laundering monitoring mechanisms that exist permanently in the financial system, making it difficult to identify the origin, location, ownership and movement itself. of values”

said deputy prosecutor Carlos Frederico Santos, responsible for investigating the acts of January 8, in the document.

“Such conducts are only logically justified in cases where the resources have an illicit origin, considering the high risk and higher costs of the operation”.

As it has no direct relationship with the attacks on the headquarters of the Three Powers, Santos asked Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), to send these evidence to the Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories “for the measures that he deems appropriate” .

The suspicions of corruption against Naime are contained in a complaint presented by the PGR to the Supreme Court against the PM-DF leadership, for alleged omission in the acts of January 8.

Arrested since February, Naime was one of those denounced by the PGR. He is accused of omission, combined with the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d’état, damage qualified by violence and serious threat, with the use of flammable substance against the patrimony of the Union and with considerable damage to the victim and deterioration of listed heritage.

As president of the PM Association, Naime hired the company “Pico Serviços de Comunicação”, owned by Sérgio Assis, for advisory and marketing work.

The contract, signed in February 2022, provided for a monthly payment of BRL 8,900.00

According to the PGR, however, a week after the contract was signed, Sérgio began to make monthly payments to Naime in the amount of R$8,000. The body pointed out that the operation indicates suspicion that the colonel used his position in the association to divert resources obtained by the entity through the contribution of PM officers.

“In this way, in addition to the evident continuous injury – due to successive payments resulting from a simulated contract – to members of the PMDF Officers Association, there are indications of corruption on the part of Jorge Eduardo Barreto Naime”

said the PGR.

CNN contacted Naime’s defense, which said it would not comment on the case. Regarding the alleged omission in the acts of January 8, the defense said that Naime is innocent and that he will “prove it”.
