The União e Reconstrução ticket won the election and will take command of the board of directors of the XI de Agosto academic center at the Faculty of Law of USP from 2024 onwards. From July 2022 until now, the student representation body has been led by the Travessia group, composed of PSOL sectors.
União e Reconstrução, in turn, is formed by independent students and left-wing groups such as União da Juventude Socialista and Levante Popular da Juventude, in addition to unorganized PT blocks. The name of the ticket was inspired by the slogan of the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) government.
With a quorum of 830 voters, the winning ticket received 584 votes, while the current administration received 229.
“We are a left-wing party, we participated in the organization of the student strike in October this year. Being left-wing and worrying about the immediate needs of students are complementary and inseparable”, says Mariana Belussi, the elected president.
Regarding the 2024 municipal elections, when Guilherme Boulos is expected to be the PSOL and PT candidate, she states that the academic center has an independent and non-partisan position and “will be an actor to strengthen progressive candidacies, the popular field and the construction of a unity of left in São Paulo”.
