PL seeks to complete signatures for Corsan’s CPI

The PL bench in the Legislative Assembly in Rio Grande do Sul will meet next Tuesday (28) and may decide to join the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the Riograndense Saneamento Company (Corsan).

The decision of each of the party’s five state deputies will be fundamental, since it is the exact number of signatures that are missing for the commission to be installed.

With PT, PSOL and PCdoB leading the movement, the application for opening the inquiry has 14 of the 19 required signatures. Upon reaching the minimum quorum, the Board of Directors must carry out the opening of the commission.

Therefore, the PL today is the tip of the scale for Corsan’s CPI. With the government bench bringing together nine parties and only two acronyms positioning themselves independently, there is little space to be disputed in the Legislative Assembly.

Aware of this responsibility, the tendency is for the PL to adhere, sign the application and be essential for opening investigations. “We are going to meet the bench on Tuesday to make a joint decision as a bench. There is a sensitivity of all our parliamentarians regarding the relevance of the theme. At no time, no one rejected outright (joining the CPI). , as a bench, a unique position”, said Rodrigo Lorenzoni, leader of the PL in the Assembly.

Despite the search for an aligned position on the bench, the question divides the Gaucho PL. Sources that closely follow the mobilization around the CPI claim that, while three parliamentarians are hanging on to join, two others are still reluctant. According to the information, the performance of Onyx Lorenzoni (PL) could be fundamental. Former government minister Jair Bolsonaro (PL, 2019-2022) and former candidate for the government of Rio Grande do Sul would be pressuring the bench for the opening of the inquiry.

Rodrigo, son of Onyx, understands that the search for private contribution to sanitation is the correct way to provide this service, but defends clarifying some points of this privatization process specifically.

“Our bench voted in favor of the privatization of Corsan. What worries us is the information that there could have been an underestimated valuation in the company’s sale value. And that eventually there could be privileged information by parts of the winning company, which has a series of contracts with Corsan many years ago. The lack of a transparent policy on how the tariff issue will be is also a concern”, listed the deputy.

In the auction held on December 20 last year, the company was sold in a single bid by the Aegea Consortium for R$ 4.151 billion.

Corsan’s CPI will be the first experience of a new dynamic in the Gaucho Legislative, where right and left can work together in opposition to a center government. “Some question that the PT signed, and then the PL will remain with the PT. This is not a case of right and left, opposition and situation. , argues Rodrigo.

The deputy also defends that the investigation of possible irregularities does not mean questioning the philosophy of privatization – on the contrary, it generates legal security for the process.

“Parliament has an important function of supervising and controlling the acts of the Executive. We cannot escape this responsibility. And as a defender of privatizations, one of the ways to guarantee the consistency of the processes is that everyone can be transparent so that, in the future, , are not contested”, explained the leader of the PL.

“If at the end of the investigation everything is right, great. It is more security for the buyer. If there is a problem, we will face it and correct it. I even see it as a way of defending the privatization procedures. We need to have everything clarified”, he added. .

If the five PL deputies sign the request already filed by deputy Jeferson Fernandes (PT), the CPI will be set up. Rapporteur, president and representatives of the parties will be chosen to integrate the commission, and the group must work for 120 days on the inquiry.
