Manaus (AM) — After political turbulence, involving Liberal Party (PL) parliamentarians. The president of the municipal executive of the PL, federal deputy Capitão Aberto Neto, summoned this Monday (17), the members of the Municipal Commission and all affiliates of the association for the election on July 24 of the titular and substitute members of the Council of Ethics and Party Discipline.

The summons complies with Office CEN/PL No. 016/2023, of the National Executive of the PL, signed on the 12th of this month by the president of the acronym, Valdemar Costa Neto. According to the Official Letter, the PL opened disciplinary proceedings against the former superintendent of Suframa, Colonel Menezes, for calling Alberto Neto a ‘judas’, with the reason that the deputy voted against the Tax Reform project.

Coronel Menezes expressed his opinion on receiving the Official Letter, claiming that the meeting will be held to silence him due to the criticism of Alberto Neto and returned to confront the acronym partner.

“As a politician, you have to have your say, I am publicizing the call made by federal deputy Alberto Neto for the installation of the PL ethics committee, which aims to silence me from the criticisms I made because he voted against the Manaus Free Trade Zone”

Menezes added that he is still waiting for the denouncements made by Alberto Neto to the National Bill to be made official. “I am still waiting for the content of the complaints to be made official, so that I can inform and publicize the entire city of Manaus that honored me in 2022 with more than 544 thousand votes and the entire state of Amazonas where I obtained more than 737 thousand votes”he stated.

According to the communiqué, the meeting will be held at the party’s headquarters, located in the Adrianópolis neighborhood, in the Center-South zone of Manaus.

Valdemar Costa determined that all excesses that affect the honor of the parliamentary member, due to the offenses, be investigated and punished.

The president of the PL claimed that “It is important to clarify that the affiliate (Colonel Menezes) does not hold an elective mandate and thus, pursuant to the provisions of article 19, par. 2, of the Code of Ethics, the competent body to investigate possible non-compliance with ethics, is the electoral district of the affiliate with the consequent initiation of an ethical process for violation of party duties and for the infractions defined in the code, before the municipal executive committee of the corresponding level ”.
