The US digital wallet PayPal has stopped accepting payments and deposits via Pix, according to a statement sent to users last Tuesday (9).
Transactions on the platform are now only made by debit or credit card or payment by bank slip.
PayPal claimed to have left the Central Bank of Brazil arrangement that allows digital instant transactions. “In this way, all Pix features have been discontinued as previously reported.”
Other payment platforms and digital wallets such as PicPay and Market Pago continue to accept payments and deposits via Pix. PayPal, however, has the advantage of operating in multiple locations around the world.
In other countries, the US digital wallet has offered an instant payment service via a link called PayPal.me since 2015. The service has never been available in Brazil.
US consumers can also, since 2021, make payments in cryptocurrencies.
