Average value was almost R$500

Increasingly used by Brazilians when paying bills and transferring money, Pix reached a record number of transactions last Wednesday (6). There were 152.7 million instant transfers, according to the Central Bank (BC). That mark surpassed the previous record of 142.4 million transactions on Aug.

“The numbers reinforce the strong adherence of people and companies to Pix”,

evaluates the Central Bank.

Last Wednesday (6), transactions totaled R$ 76.1 billion. This means that each real-time transfer had an average value of BRL 498.42.

More than half (55.86%) of transfers made on Wednesday were between individuals. The BC highlights “transactions from individuals (PF) to legal entities (PJ) as the main vector of recent growth”. In September 2022, the PF-PJ transaction was 22.5% of the total. In August, it reached 33.3%.

“The maturation of Pix, the convenience of its use and the development of integration solutions across the market are allowing greater diversification in use cases, increasing its importance in the smooth functioning of the national economy”,

complements the Central Bank.

Pix numbers

Launched by BC in November 2020, the country currently has 650.7 million Pix keys. There are 153 million registered users, 92% of whom are individuals. Of every 100 transactions, 60 are made by people between 20 and 39 years old.
