PGR denounces 80 more people for acts of vandalism on January 8

The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) denounced this Monday (27) to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) over 80 people arrested in the act, in Brasília, on January 8. So far, the PGR has already denounced 912 people, distributed among the groups of executors and instigators of acts of vandalism.

“The petitions were filed in two investigations (4,921 and 4,922), both reported by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, initiated at the request of the PGR to investigate the crimes,” the agency said in a note.

Among those denounced, 44 were accused of the crimes of incitement equivalent to the animosity of the Armed Forces against the Constitutional Powers and criminal association, whose maximum penalty, in case of conviction, can reach 3 years and 3 months of imprisonment. Already 36 were accused of crimes committed with violence and serious threat, whose maximum penalty, after conviction, can exceed 30 years.

“In these cases, the defendants answer, in a contest of people, for the crimes of armed criminal association; violent abolition of the democratic rule of law; coup d’etat; Qualified damage to Union property, in addition to deterioration of listed property,” according to the Attorney General’s Office. It is up to the Supreme Court to decide whether to accept the accusations and make the defendants defendants.

In addition to the complaints, the PGR manifested itself in 260 new requests for provisional release, requesting the revocation of the arrest of 202 accused of minor crimes. As for those accused of serious crimes, committed with violence and serious threat, whose maximum sentences exceed this level, the MPF requires the maintenance of the precautionary prison. According to the Attorney General’s Office, there are 58 people in this group.
