Another 203 people were denounced by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), for inciting the acts of vandalism on January 8.

In all, the PGR has already presented 1,390 formal accusations in inquiries that determine responsibilities for “anti-democratic acts”. There are 239 related to the core of executors, 1,150 in the core of initiators and one in the core that investigates the alleged omission of public authorities in the episode.

According to the PGR, with the presentation of these new complaints, the Strategic Group to Combat Anti-Democratic Acts has exhausted the work related to the people arrested on January 8 at Praça dos Três Poderes and those arrested the day after the invasions, in the camp in front of the HQ of the Army in Brasilia. “Eventual cases still pending will be evaluated and the appropriate measures, including possible complaints, taken in due time”, informed the attorney’s office.

“The analysis of these cases was prioritized because most people are or have been detained, and there are legal deadlines for filing a complaint in cases with precautionary arrest. The objective was to avoid any conjecture regarding the excess of time”, explains the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic Carlos Frederico Santos, coordinator of the Strategic Group.

If the Justice accepts the accusations, those appointed as “inciters” may have to answer for incitement equivalent to the animosity of the Armed Forces against the Constitutional Powers and criminal association.
