The Federal Police will summon the now former head of the GSI (Institutional Security Office), General Gonçalves Dias, better known as GDias, to testify in the coming days.
He resigned from his position this Wednesday afternoon (19), after the release of images that put the body’s performance in check during the coup act on January 8.
His departure from the government occurred shortly after a meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
Hours before the resignation, CNN Brasil had released images of the internal security circuit of the Palácio do Planalto during the invasion of the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.
The PF investigates the omission of authorities within an inquiry opened by the STF (Federal Supreme Court). The rapporteur of the case in court is Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
The general’s departure comes after a series of meetings at the Planalto Palace. GDias tried to justify himself throughout the day to fellow ministers, but the assessment is that his permanence was unsustainable and that it brought a lot of fragility to the government’s speech in front of Bolsonaristas.
