PF decision is based on note from the Ministry of Planning
The direction of the Federal Police decided to charge former Minister of Justice Anderson Torres to return the wages he received while he was preventively arrested.
The decision is based on a technical note from 2013 by the Ministry of Planning, which provides that the remuneration of federal civil servants will be suspended in case of preventive detention.
Torres has been a career delegate for the PF since 2003, that is, for 20 years. For this position, he receives a monthly salary of around R$ 30,000, a remuneration that he continued to receive even after being arrested.
The former minister was arrested on January 14, 2023 in an investigation that investigates his alleged omission in the coup invasions on January 8, when he was Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District.
Torres was detained at the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District until May 11, when he was released by order of STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes and started using an electronic anklet.
In addition to the salary deduction, Anderson Torres faces an internal administrative process at the PF that should culminate in his definitive expulsion from the corporation.
