This content is about a fact that is still being investigated by the newsroom. Soon we will have more information.
The former advisor to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) at the Planalto Palace, Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, is among those arrested in a Federal Police operation this Wednesday morning (3) that investigates a group suspected of entering false data of vaccination against Covid-19 in the systems of the Ministry of Health.
Operation Venire fulfills six preventive arrest warrants and 16 search and seizure warrants in Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro. Mauro Cid was due to testify this Wednesday morning (3) in the case that investigates the jewelry given to the Brazilian government by Saudi Arabia.
In addition to Mauro Cid, security guards and advisers to the former president were also arrested. The PF also carried out search and seizure warrants in the condominium where Bolsonaro is living in Brasília with former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro.
According to the investigations, the false information targeted by this operation was entered into the systems between November 2021 and December 2022, and had as a consequence the “alteration of the truth about a legally relevant fact, that is, the condition of being immunized against Covid -19 of the beneficiaries”.
According to the Federal Police, the targets of the operation altered the information to issue vaccination certificates and use them to circumvent “current health restrictions imposed by public authorities (Brazil and the United States) aimed at preventing the spread of contagious disease, in the case of , the Covid-19 pandemic”.
The PF also states that the group aimed to “keep the identity element cohesive in relation to its ideological guidelines, in this case, to support the speech aimed at attacks on vaccination against Covid-19”. The actions take place within the scope of the police investigation that investigates the performance of what would be a “digital militia” in an investigation at the Federal Supreme Court.
Among the crimes investigated by the investigations, according to the PF, are the infraction of a preventive health measure, criminal association, insertion of false data in information systems and corruption of minors.
The Federal Police was contacted to explain the operation, but stated that it will not comment on compliance with the warrants.
