PF investigates images of Enem tests on social media

The Federal Police began investigating this Sunday (5) the circulation of images of this year’s National High School Exam (Enem) exams on social media. According to the corporation, the exam contents were improperly posted on the internet throughout the day.

The National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Inep) identified images of the test books on social media after 1 pm, the time when the gates were closed, and contacted the authority. However, the agency avoids talking, at this time, about the leaking of content.

“The PF is also following INEP’s internal investigation work to obtain more information about the case and contribute to the necessary clarifications,” said the authority late Sunday night (5).

At least two steps have already been taken by the PF, as explained by Minister Camilo Santana, of Education. One occurred in Pernambuco, home of the author of the post, and another in the Federal District.

One of the images was related to the essay, which had the theme “Challenges for confronting the invisibility of care work carried out by women in Brazil”. On the other hand, the president of Inep, Manuel Palacios, ruled out the involvement of civil servants and stated that the test should not be annulled.

The institute did not reveal how many images of the evidence were identified on social media, nor how they were obtained. Among the rules for administering the tests is the prohibition of access for students carrying cell phones or electronic equipment to the places where the tests are administered.

This year’s Enem had 3.9 million people registered for the first day, this Sunday (5) and for the second, next weekend.

Security for the application of tests is one of the government’s main difficulties, which was unable to prevent the theft and leak of one of the tests in 2009 and the circulation of images on social media in the following years. In 2012, around 60 candidates were eliminated from the exam for posting photos.
