This Friday (20) the Federal Police carried out a new operation to identify suspects who participated, financed or encouraged the demonstrations that took place on January 8 in Brasília and which ended with acts of vandalism and depredations at the headquarters of the Three Powers.
Baptized Operation Lesa Pátria, the PF action fulfills eight preventive arrest warrants and 16 search and seizure warrants in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District. The warrants were issued by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
According to the PF, the facts investigated constitute, in theory, the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage, criminal association, incitement to crime, destruction and deterioration or destruction of specially protected property.
“Investigations are still ongoing and Operation Lesa Pátria becomes permanent, with periodic updates on the number of court orders issued, people captured and fugitives,” the PF said in a note, which also released the email – denuncia8janeiro@pf. gov.br – to receive information on complaints about suspects who participated in acts of vandalism.
