Pelé’s widow releases letter a month after death: “Love will never die”

Pelé’s widow, Márcia Aoki, released an open letter in the former player’s profile a month after her husband’s death. The 56-year-old businesswoman says goodbye to her husband and appreciates the messages from fans, the Santos team and citizens of the city on the coast of São Paulo. Pelé passed away on December 29, 2022 from colon cancer.
“Saying goodbye to those I love and getting used to not having my reason for living by my side, their love full of affection, unique humor and their complicity, will take time…”, says the first part of the letter. Márcia Aoki and Pelé got married in 2016, but have been dating since 2010.
Pelé was married twice more, to Rosemeri Cholbi, with whom he was married from 1966 to 1982. Rose is the mother of Kely, Edson (Edinho) and Jennifer.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento’s second marriage was to Assíria Lemos, who would later take on the surname Nascimento. With her, Pelé had a couple of twins, Joshua and Celeste, in addition to taking care of his wife’s daughter, Gemima. The relationship lasted from 1990 to 2008.
Daughter also pays tribute to Pelé
Kely Nascimento also remembered the one-month anniversary without her father. She used her social media account to honor the King. “Today and always, thank you for sharing our sense of humor, our huge head with me!”, She wrote in the caption of the publication. Kely is the oldest daughter recognized by the former player.
