Pelé became an entry in the Michaelis dictionary, one of the most important in the Portuguese language. The King of Football was inserted as an adjective in the digital version of the work and will be included in the next ones that are printed.
The player, killed at the end of last year, appears to be synonymous with something exceptional.

The Pelé Foundation, which manages the legacy of the Brazilian elected Athlete of the Century in 1981, had started a campaign for him to become an entry in dictionaries. A petition gathered around 125,000 signatures.
The Michaelis announcement was made this Wednesday (26), at the Sports Summit, a sports fair that takes place in São Paulo.
The initiative had the campaign developed by the End to End agency, curated by Memorabília do Sport and academic consultancy by Miami Ad School.
“Understanding a jargon that was already in people’s daily lives and making it official to pay this homage is an incredible celebration. Pelé is eternal and deserves to be eternalized in every possible way. Now it will also be in the Portuguese language!” points out Bruno Brum, CMO of Agência End to End.
