PEC of the vote: SINDSEMP-AM defends democratization of the Public Ministry

The proposal argues that all members of the Public Ministry should have the right to vote, including civil servants.
With the aim of expanding the democratization and improvement of the Public Ministry, PEC 147/2015 is being discussed in the Chamber of Deputies, which provides for the participation of effective servants in the choice of the head of the body. The proposal received a favorable opinion from Federal Deputy Rubens Ferreira Junior (PT-MA) in the Constitution and Justice Commission.
The Public Ministry is the institution, par excellence, responsible for defending the democratic regime. However, by constitutional order, only the members (Prosecutors and Public Prosecutors) have the right to vote in the election to form a triple list for the Attorney General of Justice.
“The proposal argues that all members of the MP should have the right to vote, including civil servants. Since they will be directed by the Attorney General of Justice, then it is only fair that they also participate in this selection process. Other Institutions already do this, as is the case of some universities. We defend that, the more democracy, the more advances”,
said the MP.
The Union of Public Prosecution Service Employees of the State of Amazonas (SINDSEMP-AM) argues that the inclusion of all professionals provides greater democracy, transparency, equality and justice to the Public Ministry.
“The PEC of Vote 147/2015 promotes the strengthening of the Democratic State of Law and brings the Public Ministry closer to the citizen. The democratization of the vote will make the MP more open, plural, with less political interference and more respect for all its members”,
says the President of the entity, Marlon Bernardo.
Entities representing public servants of all state MPs, together with FENAMP and ANSEMP, have been carrying out a campaign in favor of the democratization of the Public Ministry.
“We ask the federal deputies of Amazonas to choose democracy and contribute to the evolution of the Brazilian justice system”,
ends Marlon.
