On the afternoon of this Thursday (9), the Partido da Causa Operária (PCO), with a leftist bias and which calls itself “truly revolutionary and communist”, used its profile on social networks to criticize the way in which left-wing parliamentarians have reacted to the speech of federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) this Wednesday (8) in the plenary of the Chamber. Wearing a wig, the Minas Gerais parliamentarian said that “women are losing space for men who feel like women”.

Hours later, the PSOL bench in the Chamber filed a crime report with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) against the deputy. On another front, deputies from other parties, such as the PDT and PSB, called for the removal of the Minas Gerais deputy’s mandate for alleged transphobia.

“Nikolas Ferreira is the most voted deputy in history, with almost 1.5 million votes, he is from the former president’s party, which has the largest bench in Congress. If he had his mandate revoked for speaking it would further increase the precedent to impeach any parliamentarian in the country ”, published the PCO’s profile on Twitter.

“The attempt to impeach deputy Nikolas Ferreira for a speech given in Congress is a medieval policy. Any citizen has the right to freedom of expression. Furthermore, a parliamentarian is elected by the people precisely to speak. The left should not support censorship”, he added.
