Pavinatto says PT “asked for his head” from Jovem Pan’s management

Presenter Tiago Pavinatto, who in August announced his departure from Jovem Pan citing as his reason an alleged refusal to recant after criticizing a judge live, stated this Sunday (1st) that the Workers’ Party (PT) was responsible for having asked the media company to resign.

According to Pavinatto, who is homosexual, a PT representative told Jovem Pan management that the relationship between the broadcaster and the Lula government could be improved by dismissing the journalist. The presenter even stated that the PT member had said that “the necessary asepsis would be to fire the ‘faggot’ who presents Linha de Frente” [programa que Pavinatto conduzia até seu
desligamento].

In July, Jovem Pan took a public stance against the cut in federal advertising funds during the Lula government. The broadcaster, which maintains an editorial line that is more critical of leftist agendas, pointed out ideological persecution by the government.

In the first months of this year, the communications company received only R$2,413 in advertising from the federal government, according to official data. Pavinatto’s tweet suggests that there would have been dialogue between the company’s management and at least one PT representative so that the imbalance between the transfer of funds could be corrected.

“Yesterday I discovered that, for the 4th time in my life, I lost a job because I was an admitted and prominent ‘fag’ (with ratings, credibility and, worse, right-wing). Being successful is uncomfortable. It bothered the PT, who asked for the head of the ‘faggot’ who kept Pan in the lead”, said the presenter.

Pavinatto also stated that he has been the target of attacks from LGBT activists and mentioned Jair Bolsonaro when pointing out differences between the treatment received during the former president’s government and that of the PT in relation to his sexual orientation.

“I had every disagreement with Bolsonaro: the Christian virtue of forgiveness and mutual understanding prevailed. Is Bolsonaro homophobic? He may have been; he may have said rude things while in office (and I told him off every time); but the fact is that he is not: his genuine respect for me, for example, is something too true,” he said.

“Very different from the treatment I received from a PT emissary: ​​when advising JP on what he should do to improve the relationship between the broadcaster and the Lula government, this emissary said that ‘the necessary asepsis would be to fire the fagot [sim, o emissário petista usou esse termo: ‘o viado’] that presents Linha de Frente’”, declared Pavinatto.

“If you think that this government respects minorities, it’s past time for you to open your eyes and stop being an asshole,” he continued.
