Pavanato denounces student aggression when trying to record a video at USP

After registering moments of tension when he was expelled from the University of São Paulo (USP) by students, the influencer Lucas Pavanato went to social networks to denounce the group for aggression while trying to record a video on the premises of the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH ).

“They started attacking. We had to leave with an escort […] There was aggression filmed. There were different types of violence and I can prove that my video was calm, just a chat without any kind of disrespect, without any kind of offense, but they were aggressive and came at us”, said Pavanato on video recorded while still leaving the university.

The confusion happened last Thursday (17th), when Pavanato was expelled by dozens of students shouting “retreat, fascist”.

“We pay for college for these people, for that bunch of bums who don’t study. They are doing militancy within the college and attack anyone who thinks differently. A public space that cannot be frequented by the general public because it was taken over by far-left factions and I did my part to try to demonstrate who the real fascists are and how there is indoctrination in public colleges”, completed Pavanato.

The influencer published a video on his social networks with a compilation of the main moments of tension. In the video, Pavanato is surrounded, pushed and threatened by students.

A security guard who accompanied Pavanato would have drawn his gun during the confusion. According to the Central Directory of Students (DCE), the security guard would have pointed the gun at one of the students.

According to Folha de S. Paulo, the security guard is a member of the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) of São Paulo and also acts as an escort for Councilman Fernando Holiday (PL).

To Folha, Pavanato denied the version presented by the DCE and said that the security guard only drew the gun as a way of guaranteeing his physical integrity at the time he also became the target of the attacks.

“They started to attack him in different ways, hitting him on the head, threatening to take the gun away. He pulled out the gun, put it aside and said: ‘Guys, stop, please’. When they calmed down, he put it away”, said Pavanato, who promised for this Friday (18) the publication of the video in its entirety.

Without mentioning the students’ aggression, USP sent a note to Folha in which it says it repudiates the GCM’s reaction inside the campus.

“This type of attitude is unacceptable in any civilized environment. Within a university, the infamous act is covered with a symbology that goes against the essential spirit of the search for knowledge and wisdom. We hope that police investigations are carried out so that cases like this do not be repeated”, says the university note.
