Parliamentary fronts are pushing for a project on work on Sundays later this year – 11/25/2023 – Panel

Presidents of the parliamentary fronts for Entrepreneurship, Commerce and Services, Agriculture and Competitive Brazil will meet next week to outline a joint strategy to approve a project that allows negotiation for work on holidays and Sundays without the intermediation of unions this year.
The movement occurs despite the Lula government having provisionally given up on revoking the possibility.
Ordinance from the Ministry of Labor and Employment published this month amended another from 2021 that permanently released work on Sundays and holidays for a list of sectors, without the need for prior negotiation with workers. The measure would particularly affect trade.
After reaction from businesspeople and parliamentarians, the government decided to suspend the change until March 2024. Until then, the Executive plans to reach an agreement with workers and companies on the issue.
