Parish is invaded and has sacred objects destroyed in Curitiba

For the third time in less than nine months, the St Paul the Apostle Parish, in the Uberaba neighborhood, in Curitiba, was the target of criminals. This time, early this Thursday (31), a man broke a TV and damaged sacred objects inside the church.

According to the parish, in addition to the 32-inch television, the criminal destroyed two ambulae, a container where the hosts given to the faithful are kept, and two Eucharistic teaks, a place where a large host is dedicated to adoration.

For the head of the Parish, Father Márcio Pinho, this was the worst of the invasions because there was the profanation of the tabernacle with destruction of sacred objects. According to him, the material part can be replaced, but the disrespect to the Body of Christ It’s disrespect to everyone.

“Violation of sacred spaces offends the community. It was the first time that someone entered, took the hosts, threw them on the floor and trampled them. Stepping on the body of Christ is profanation against the Blessed Sacrament and makes us very sad, it is an offense to the community. we are living hard times and impunity is costly,” he said.

In the first two occurrences of the year, according to Father Márcio, gas cylinders, pans and even microphones were taken used in celebrations. This time, according to him, a man entered through a window next to the sacristy, a house attached to the parish, breaking a television and part of the sound system.

“A man entered just from what we saw on the cameras. He tried to steal the television, which is at the top and could not. The TV fell and broke, in addition to the sound system having had a part destroyed”, he reports.

Parish holds mass of reparation

Because of what happened, the São Paulo Apostle Parish called a celebration of reparation, for next Sunday (3), at 10am. This devotion consists of confession, communion, recitation of the rosary and meditation on the mysteries of the holy rosary, in reparation for the sins and offenses committed by mankind. For Father Márcio, a necessity due to the difficulties that the church has suffered throughout the year.

“We have to pray for the whole church that is at the mercy of these people. Impunity is costly and more than ever, God awaits the prayer of each one of us, ”he reiterated.
