Tourism generated R$146.6 million in the economy of Parintins (369 kilometers from Manaus) during the 56th Folk Festival, reaching a new record. The result was presented this Tuesday (08), by the Government of Amazonas, through the State Tourism Company (Amazonastur), and showed that direct revenue from tourists increased 30.1% this year, compared to the previous edition. previous.

“These results make it clear how important the Parintins Festival is for culture and also for the economy of the municipality. Especially for small entrepreneurs. There are tricyclers, seamstresses, artisans and many other professionals who wait all year for the arrival of tourists. That is why our government invests so heavily in the festival and in the infrastructure of the show”,

said Governor Wilson Lima.

The event, which is considered the largest open-air folk festival in the world, attracted 110,000 people to Tupinambarana Island, in 2023, between June 30th, July 1st and 2nd. During the three nights of the party, the Bumbódromo is the stage for the dispute between the Caprichoso and Garantido bulls, who are the protagonists of the event.

Amazonastur’s projects are among the top four evaluations among tourists. The item with the highest approval was crafts (98.82%), followed by the Turistódromo (98.21%), hospitality (97.40%), Rhythms on the Island (96.92%) and Pocket Guide/Tourist Map (94.93%).

This year, the Turistódromo was a great success and attracted a record audience of 50,000 people, a 25% increase compared to 2022. The space of the Government of Amazonas brought together important tourist services and activities such as the delivery of the Regional Passport with personalized stamps, a great success of the edition.

Another achievement highlighted by the president of Amazonastur was the positive evaluation of tourists in relation to the debut event Ritmos na Ilha, which brought together 14 musical attractions, in four days of celebration, in addition to the transmission of the Festa dos Visitantes and the 56th Folk Festival of Parintins, in an environment with all the structure and security.

Tourists from states such as Pará, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima and Pernambuco, as well as other cities in the Amazon, were present at the festivities of the Caprichoso and Garantido bois-bumbás, in Parintins.

According to the survey carried out by Amazonastur, 98.51% of the tourists interviewed stated that they intended to recommend Parintins as a tourist destination. While 96.58% of visitors reported that they intend to return to the island of magic.

The survey evaluated the profile of tourists and the perception of the population during the event. In all, 2,100 people were interviewed by 18 professionals from Amazonastur in various areas of Ilha Tupinambarana, such as Praça da Catedral, Porto, Praça Digital, Turistódromo and Bumbódromo, between June 26th and July 2nd.
