Paralympic athletes from Amapá win 17 medals during the Brazilian Championship, in São Paulo – News of Brazil

Last week, São Paulo hosted the Campeonato Brasileiro Loterias Caixa de Atletismo and Amapá was present at the competition, bringing 17 medals in its luggage and three more records of the Americas broken. In all, 14 para-athletes were representing the State.
There were eight gold, five silver and four bronze medals. The highlight was para-athlete Wanna Brito, 26 years old, who won three gold medals and broke three Americas records. She reached the best continental index and surpassed her own record in the shot put, in the F32 class (for athletes with cerebral palsy) by scoring 7.35m. She also set two more Americas records: 24.34m for the club throw, and 11.99m for the discus throw.
In addition to the paralympic athletes, another highlight was Marlon Gomes, coach and coordinator of the Macapá Paralympic Reference Center. He won the competition’s best coach award and the team overall took third place as club best.

In addition to the medalists, para-athletes Lucas Tiago, Gilson Machado, Ricardo Zapelini, Cirley Ferreira and Glaucinilda Gomes were also present, increasing their marks.
The competition had the participation of 612 athletes from 21 states and the Federal District, enrolled in track and field events.
