Para-athletes from Macapá City Hall project participate in athletics competition – News of Brazil

This Saturday (9), para-athletes classified by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) in partnership with the Amapá Athletics Federation (FAAp), participate in the Paralympic Athletics Championship, on the athletics track of the Federal University of Amapá (Unifap).
The competition takes place in the morning and afternoon shifts, bringing together around 60 para-athletes from the “Paradesportive Games of the Municipality of Macapá” project, in the shot put, discus and javelin throw, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 5000m races and long jump.
The championship continues on Sunday (10), at the Zerão stadium, in the morning and afternoon.
On the Friday holiday (8), before the start of the competitions, the para-athletes from Macapá underwent an assessment carried out by teams from CPB and FAAp, with the aim of classifying them for participation in national and international championships.
The objective of the classification is to always guarantee equal conditions in the competition held in 3 phases:
1) Physical exams
2) Functional assessment, with tests of muscle strength, range of joint movement, measurement of limbs and coordination
3) Technical exam, which consists of demonstrating the test itself, with the athlete using the necessary adaptations. The evaluators analyze the performance of the movement, the technique used, as well as the prostheses and orthoses.
Macapá City Hall is a partner in the event, through the municipal departments of Education and Health.
