Pan American Games: Brazil wins three gold medals in sailing – News of Brazil

Brazilian sailing shone this Friday (3) in the current edition of the Pan American Games, which are being held in Santiago (Chile), with four medals won, three of them gold. In Algarrobo, one of the event’s sub-hosts, Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze secured their second Pan-American championship in the 49er FX class, Bruno Lobo won twice in Formula Kite and Mateus Isaac won in IQFoil. Furthermore, Maria do Socorro Reis took bronze in the women’s Formula Kite.
“The final was tense, because since the beginning of the week we had a good fight with the Americans and the Canadians. This championship was really cool because of this dispute with the opponents. We had this pressure, because whoever did well in the last race would walk away with the podium. We took it easy and did well, we are happy with this medal”, declared Martine Grael, who, alongside Kahena Kunze, secured qualification for the next edition of the Olympic Games at the Pan, which will be held in Paris (France) in 2024.
Another Brazilian to secure his second Pan-American championship was Bruno Lobo, who did not hide his joy at the feat achieved in Formula Kite: “I am very happy to have defended my title. I managed to dominate the entire championship, but it wasn’t easy. It is the result of a lot of dedication and work. I came here very prepared and put the Brazilian flag on top of the podium. Now it’s time to celebrate and prepare to go in search of a place in Paris 2024.”
Brazil’s third gold medal this Friday in sailing came with Mateus Isaac in the IQFoil windsurfing class, which highlighted the difficulty encountered in the dispute: “It was a very tough, difficult and very emotional regatta from start to finish, but I am very happy to have managed to win. I showed that all the work done was rewarded and we will move on to the next ones.”
