Padilha says reception to Bolsonaro ‘flopped’ – 03/30/2023 – Politics

The Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, took advantage of an interview about the new fiscal framework to highlight the small turnout of people at the reception of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), on his return to Brazil.

“Once again he [Bolsonaro] he proved himself to be a leader with his feet made of clay when he fled the country. Now, he did a whole week of mobilization and [mesmo assim] flop reception at the airport,” said the petista.

Padilha said that, in the old government, there was a “machine for generating conflicts” in the Presidency of the Republic, but that the presence of opposition leaders in meetings with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, and their willingness to dialogue about the new economic rules show that this posture will no longer exist.

“Anyone who wants to create an environment of conflict that existed in the country in the previous government, will do badly, will not succeed, will flop, as the reception at the airport today of the former president, who returned to the country after having fled country. It flopped,” he said.

At the meeting with senators this Thursday (30) on the new fiscal framework, in addition to Padilha and Haddad, important opposition senators, such as Hamilton Mourão (Republicanos-RS), Bolsonaro’s vice president, and Ciro Nogueira (PP) were present. -PI), former Minister of the Civil House.

Dozens of Bolsonaro supporters gathered to welcome him in the lobby of the Brasília airport this Thursday morning (30). They, however, did not know that the ex-president would leave through the Federal Police hangar, miles away.

Supporters oscillated between singing the national anthem and shouting “myth”, “hey, Bolsonaro, where are you, I came here just to see you”. Sometimes they cursed President Lula and Globo.

Although Bolsonaro discreetly left the terminal, his arrival changed the routine of the airport. A blockade was made by the Military Police on the main avenue that leads to the place, but the cars were not stopped.

Policing at the airport itself was also extensive, with buses and agents in different locations from an early age.

Authorities were only expected in the PL. At the airport, there was only the former secretary of communication for the Presidency, Fabio Wajngarten, who sometimes spoke with the police and sometimes with the press.

Afterwards, son 03 of the former president, deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), arrived, causing turmoil in the lobby. Supporters teased him and asked about his father. They only started to demobilize around 8 am, when the federal deputy left the place.

Supporters also waited for the former president in front of the hotel complex where the PL headquarters are located, in the central region of Brasília. Bolsonaristas cheered and gathered to take selfies with former ministers and allies of Bolsonaro.

The former president arrived at the scene around 8 am, but frustrated supporters by entering through the garage.
