The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), said that he would discuss with the leaders of the parties during the first meeting of the year of the collegiate, this Tuesday afternoon (28), the possibility of installing the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) requested by Senator Soraya Thronicke (União-MS) to investigate the events that took place on January 8.

Pacheco assessed that he is not taking too long to make a decision and committed to reading the application in plenary, in case the support signatures reach the minimum number of 27 and are confirmed. He emphasized that until the reading, withdrawals are allowed. Currently, 49 senators from the current legislature support the installation of the CPI.

Pacheco’s declaration took place after Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), gave a period of 10 days for the President of the Senate to comment on this CPI. The minister is the rapporteur for a writ of mandamus filed by Soraya Thronicke.
