This Wednesday (25), the governor Clecio Luis will swear Josilana Santos to lead the State Foundation for Policies for the Promotion of Racial Equality (Marabaixo Foundation). The folder was created to replace the extinct Seafro, which is responsible for formulating policies, projects and affirmative actions aimed at promoting racial equality in Amapá.
“The expectation is very high, because we are living a new moment of resumption of hopes of affirmative policies. We lived four years of national dismantling and this reflected in Amapá. We assume the responsibility of the Marabaixo Foundation to work on the transversality of affirmative policies in the state”said Josilana.
In addition to Josilana, the secretaries Clicia Vieira (Culture), anne monte (Tourism) and Simone Karipuna (Indigenous Peoples) will be sworn in at 4 pm at Sebrae. During the ceremony, the Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sonia Guajajara, will be present. Anielle Franco, Minister of Racial Equality, would be present, but due to her agenda, she will not attend.
“Anielle Franco will not be able to come, but we will try to have her come in February so that we can make our agenda with social movements, municipal and state managers. Amapá needs to develop a policy to promote racial equality, speaking of equity. We are going to discuss with city halls, departments and municipal coordinators so that this work works and that we can develop the state with racial equity”explainedJosilana.
The new manager of the Marabaixo Foundation explains that there are already goals set for the beginning of management. “Let’s see what can be saved from the Federal Government’s affirmative policy over the last four years, see what progress the state has made in order to continue, and list priorities. We will meet with each segment, listen and build a strategic plan. Our goal is to develop and work against institutional racism, which hinders the growth of our state”said.
The Foundation is functioning in the government residence, a priori, but the building itself is under construction.
