Organization of the Paris 2024 Olympics unveils the design of the Olympic torch – News of Brazil

The Organizing Committee of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games released this Tuesday (25) official images of the Olympic torch. According to Mathieu Lehanneur, creator of the piece, the design was inspired by three pillars: equality, water and conciliation.
“Equality is symbolized by perfect symmetry, water is symbolized by wave and vibration effects, and peace by the gentleness of curves. We wanted to get back to the essence of what we were looking for to have as little material as possible and as much light as possible.”, explained Lehanneur.
Olympic Torch Relay
During the Olympic Torch Relay, which begins in France on May 8, 2024, it will be carried by 11,000 people (10,000 for the Olympic Games, 1,000 for the Paralympic Games).
The torch will be lit in Olympia, Greece, as per tradition, it will cross the Mediterranean Sea and pass through 65 French territories before the start of the games.
Two weeks into the Olympics, it will be lit again in Stoke Mandeville, England, the symbolic home of the Paralympic Games, where the Paralympic Torch Relay will begin.
The object will be the same for both tournaments, which already share the same emblem and mascot. According to the president of Paris 2024, Tony Estanguet, the idea is to “build bridges” between the two competitions.
The torch measures 70 cm, weighs 1.5 kg, is champagne in color and has produced 2000 units. The opening of the Olympic Games will be on July 26, 2024, while the Paralympic Games will be on August 28, 2024.
