Opposition party senators intend to hold the analysis of the new fiscal rule project on an urgent basis after the vote in the Chamber of Deputies. The text should go to the plenary of the house this Tuesday (23) or Wednesday (24), with the expectation of approval, and then be sent to the Senate for analysis.

However, unlike the Chamber, Senator Jorge Seif (PL-SC) says that the opposition parties should bar the accelerated appreciation of the text to follow the traditional rite of analysis in thematic committees, such as Economic Affairs (CAE) and Constitution and Justice (CCJ).

“We are not here to sabotage Brazil, but the issue of the fiscal framework concerns the lives of each one of us. So, in this regard, I cannot and will not conceive, I will not vote, we cannot process this in an accelerated way. It would be a disrespect especially with the commissions that discuss, that analyze, that can bring contributions and possible excesses by the federal government, ”he said.

The statement was given shortly after the leader of the government in the Senate, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), presented an urgent request for a faster vote on the new fiscal regime as soon as it is approved by the Chamber. Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), said he will discuss with party leaders the fiscal rule voting schedule when he receives the project.
