This Thursday (9), the opposition is trying a last negotiation with the Senate’s Board of Directors to get a minimum space in charge of the House’s thematic committees. Without reaching any agreement, the opposition parties – PL, PP, Republicans and Novo – were completely excluded and, in protest, abstained from voting for the choice of presidents and vice-presidents of the collegiate bodies this Wednesday.

To press for a concession of at least one vice-presidency, opposition leaders promise to appeal to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to demand compliance with the constitutional rule of proportionality, which allows the distribution of positions according to the size of party blocks.

In this sense, the parties are already preparing a Direct Action of Unconstitutionality (ADI) to be filed this Thursday (9), depending on the progress of the conciliation meeting to be held.

They are also betting on wear and tear to the image of the President of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), with the episode that gave white plates to all commissions. During the election for the presidency of the House, the opposition challenged Pacheco by launching the candidacy of Rogério Marinho (PL-RN). The dispute was intense, but the former minister of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) ended up being defeated. The exclusion of the opposition from commissions is seen as retaliation.
