Luiz Carlos Ciocchi states that there is no risk to the energy supply and the state will be supplied by the interconnected system. The National Electric System Operator (ONS) may shut down one of the four hydroelectric plants in Amapá due to the strong drought in the region. The information was confirmed by the general director of the ONS, Luiz Carlos Ciocchi, to journalists this Wednesday (4). The four plants are: Santo Antônio do Jari, Ferreira Gomes, Cachoeira Caldeirão and Coaracy Nunes. Ciocchi participated this Wednesday (4) in the meeting of the Electrical Sector Monitoring Committee (CMSE), at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, in Brasília. “In Amapá, we have a water restriction issue, mainly for one of the plants that provide local service. This plant is in operation, but the level is reaching a worrying level. If it has to stop its operations, it does not imply any problem in supply Amapá continues to be served 100% by interconnection with the interconnected system”. The four plants are small and Cachoeira Caldeirão would be the most affected by the severe drought. However, it has not yet been defined which of them will be shut down. “There are four small plants and they are very close together. This still needs to be confirmed with the agents so that we know which of them is in the most critical energy generation situation”, declared Ciocchi.
