One of the main trumpet players in the world, Randy Brecker releases an album in Manaus

Work was recorded at Teatro Amazonas during the Amazonas Green Jazz Festival last year

Manaus (AM) – One of the greatest trumpeters and flugelhornists of all time, winner of 10 Grammy Awards and with more than 20 nominations for the main world music award, will release his CD “Randy Brecker Live in Amazonas” during the Amazonas Green Jazz Festival 2023. launch show will take place on July 30, at 7 pm, at Teatro Amazonas. The album was recorded at last year’s festival, on July 27, 2022, with the special participation of the Amazonas Band, which has more than 22 years of career and conducting under the command of Rui Carvalho, who was also the artistic director and performed in every detail for the composition and finalization of the CD.

Then, after listening to the recordings, we thought it was more than enough for us to make a CD. So, the idea came from there, from this enthusiasm revealed by Randy Brecker and by the musicians of the Amazonas Band as well”,

Saxophonists Felipe Salles and Rodrigo Ursaia also made special appearances in the recording of the album. The musicians are Brazilians, who gained fame in the US with their talents. Together with Randy Brecker and Amazonas Band, they put on an unprecedented show and the result of that night makes up the songs on the album.

The work is composed of the songs “Some Skunk Funk”, “Shanghigh”, “First Tune of the Set”, “Tijuca” and “Straphangin”. In addition to guest saxophonist solos, arrangements were made by musicians Vince Mendoza, Mike Crotty, Allan Baylock and Jorg. A. Keller.

On launch day, Randy Brecker will perform a special show with Amazonas Band, Felipe Salles and Rodrigo Ursaia. The presentation will also mark the closing of this year’s edition of the Amazonas Green Jazz Festival, something that deserves a lot of celebration, in Rui Carvalho’s assessment.

Amazonas Green Jazz Festival

Considered the largest festival of its kind in Latin America, the Amazonas Green Jazz Festival is held by the Government of the State of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.

This year, the festival will take place from the 21st to the 30th of July with shows at the Teatro Amazonas and other venues in Manaus. In honor of the American singer and songwriter, Ella Jane Fitzgerald, the edition explores the theme “Ella’s” and praises the female diversity in the world of Jazz.

In addition to the traditional nightly performances at Teatro Amazonas, the festival will invade restaurants, boats, bars and historical spaces in Manaus, providing a true cultural immersion with pocket shows, lectures and workshops totally free.
