Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) announced this Wednesday (5) that he will comply with the National Teaching Floor Law and readjust by 15% the salary of teachers who work in partner day care centers in the city of São Paulo.
Nunes’ administration spent seven months without fulfilling the national floor for teachers in the indirect network. In January, the Ministry of Education raised the national floor to BRL 4,420.55, a 15% increase over the 2022 floor, which was BRL 3,845.63.
In addition to granting the readjustment seven months after the national change, the Nunes administration also says that teachers will only receive the new remuneration from August. There will be no retroactive payment.
According to the São Paulo City Hall, 32,745 teachers who work in partner day care centers will receive the readjustment.
“This salary increase for teachers in the partner network, in a salary recovery that was out of date, is the appreciation of professionals”, acknowledged the mayor, during the announcement at an event this Wednesday morning.
The readjustment of the initial earnings of basic education teachers is determined by the so-called Floor Law, from 2007, which came into effect the following year. This legislation links the increase to the variation in the value per year of Fundeb, the main funding mechanism for basic education.
