The list of gifts for the dinner promoted by Ricardo Nunes (MDB) this Monday (27th), in São Paulo, encouraged the mayor’s allies, who highlighted the national chiefs of the great center parties, such as Gilberto Kassab (PSD), Ciro Nogueira (PP), Valdemar Costa Neto (PL) and Renata Abreu (Podemos).
The differences in tone in the interventions during the meeting, in turn, helped to create a thermometer of support for Nunes’ reelection for the participants.
Former minister of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Nogueira surprised by the enthusiasm with which he expressed the support of the PP, making himself available to articulate politically for the mayor and saying that they cannot repeat the mistakes of 2022 and lose once again an election that have everything to win.
Represented by Milton Leite, president of the state board, União Brasil was also emphatic in its promise of an alliance.
According to reports, Kassab was participatory and helped with suggestions and tips, one of which was to develop strategies for each of the city’s districts, responding to specific regional demands.
The Republicans were not represented by their president, Marcos Pereira, who is in charge of the Chamber of Deputies, but by Roberto Carneiro, from the state directory, who said little, which caught the attention of the guests. In 2020, the party was not part of Nunes’ ticket, who was vice-president of Bruno Covas (PSDB), in the first round, and launched Celso Russomanno as a candidate.
The acronym commands the Housing portfolio, one of the largest in the City of São Paulo, and has the ambition of choosing the runner-up on the ticket of Nunes.
Paulo Serra, mayor of Santo André, participated in the meeting as a representative of the PSDB. He is one of the main allies of Eduardo Leite, president of Toucan and governor of Rio Grande do Sul.
For him, the meeting was a demonstration of strength by the emedebist, who showed his ability to bring together the leaders of the strongest parties in Congress outside the left, and gave Nunes the opportunity to show his performance in the city and the great financial capacity of the city hall — R$ 11.5 billion in investments in 2023, the largest in the city’s history.
Serra said that the PSDB participates in the management with party cadres, has the same vision as Nunes and looks favorably on maintaining the legacy of Bruno Covas. Although the tendency is to support the reappointment of the mayor, he says that the discussion will be forwarded in the coming months by the PSDB, which is undergoing a process of changing leadership.
