Novo presents amendment to bar planned change in Lula’s MP

After the publication of Provisional Measure 1,181/2023, which aims to transform mid-level positions into higher positions and convert effective vacancies due to trust in public administration, the Novo party bench in the Chamber of Deputies took an initiative to prevent these changes and presented a suppressive amendment.
The device suppresses articles 22 and 23 of the MP, which deal with the transformation of 13,375 vacant effective positions in the Executive Branch that currently exist into 6,692 vacant effective positions and 2,243 commissioned positions into positions of trust.
“The replacement in the Public Administration of effective positions, which require the holding of a public tender, by positions in commission to meet political interests of the Lula government violates the public interest and against the Constitution itself”, said deputy Marcel van Hattem (Novo-RS) in the justification for the amendment.
Novo also defends the reduction of expenses in the public sector, claiming that the ideal would be the extinction of positions by the Executive.
“The government talks about creating a tax, taxing productive sectors and at the same time creating more than 2,000 commissioned positions, when it should be reducing expenses to close the accounts of the public machine”, added van Hattem.
