Northeast concentrates almost half of the buses inspected by the PRF in the 2nd shift, says Dino

The Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, said this Thursday (20) that “standard deviations” were found related to the performance of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), in the second round of the presidential elections, on October 30 last year. This afternoon, Dino presented data on operations at an event with the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) and the PRF.

According to the minister, 2,185 buses were inspected in the Northeast, on October 30, 2022. In the Midwest Region, 893 buses were inspected; in the South Region, 632; in the Southeast Region, 571; and in the North Region, 310. In addition, there was a change in the terms of the operation that had already been decided after the first round of elections and the decision to apply even more resources in the second round.

The amount invested in the operation of the PRF in the first and second shifts, according to the calculation so far, was R$ 7.1 million. “In the beginning, R$ 3.6 million would be allocated for the two shifts. Afterwards, another R$ 3.5 million were allocated just for the second round. Bearing in mind that the first round election is much bigger, with disputes for more positions”, explained the minister.

The number of agents who worked in the second round was also higher in the Northeast (795), followed by the Southeast (528), South (418), Midwest (381) and North (230), reported Agência Brasil. The general director of the PRF at the time of the actions, Silvinei Vasques, is the target of at least one administrative process at the CGU. Currently, the former director is retired from the corporation.

“The PRF will initiate administrative-disciplinary proceedings to investigate the facts. And the Justice system is in charge of forwarding the judicial part, such as irregular use of public funds, prevarication or act of administrative impropriety”, said the Ministry of Justice, in note.
