Nine Corinthians fans remain hospitalized in hospitals in Belo Horizonte and Betim, in the metropolitan region of the capital, after a bus accident that left seven dead in the early hours of Sunday (20) on Rodovia Fernão Dias, in Igarapé, also in the metropolitan region. One is in serious condition.
The bodies of the seven fans were released late last night by the IML (Legal Medical Institute) of Betim. The bus was returning to Taubaté (SP) after the match between Cruzeiro and Corinthians, which ended in a 1-1 tie, at Mineirão.
The accident occurred around 2:50 am. The bus was transporting 43 fans from the Gaviões da Fiel headquarters in Vale do Paraíba. According to information from the Fire Department, the driver would have shouted that he had no brakes moments before the vehicle hit a ravine and overturned on a downhill stretch of the track.
The PRF (Federal Highway Police) reported that the technical expertise on the accident will be carried out by the Civil Police later this Monday (21).
Of the nine fans who remain hospitalized, eight, including the one in serious condition, are at the Betim Regional Hospital. The fan is in the CTI (Intensive Care Center). The others present a stable condition.
“All hospitalized patients continue to receive proper medical care. Detailed information on the health status of patients is being passed on directly to family members and/or guardians”, says, in a note, the Municipality of Betim.
One of the fans was taken to Hospital de Pronto-Socorro João XXIII, in Belo Horizonte. The health institution released the following statement:
“Because it is an individual and identifiable case, we cannot pass on health status or any other information, in compliance with the LGPD (General Law for the Protection of Personal Data) and the confidentiality of the medical record”.
