Nilton Lins handball team is four-time champion of Amazonas

Team collects state and national titles, including first place in the 2022 Brazilian University Games
Associação Atlética Nilton Lins won, during the night of Tuesday (12), the title of the 2023 Amazonense Junior Handball Championship, in a match against the Mauazinho team won by a score of 32 to 24.
With the result, the team won the fourth unprecedented championship of the sport in the State: 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023 (in 2021 the tournament was not played due to the pandemic).
After the match, held in the central region of Manaus, athlete Vinícius Ferreira also received the award for best goalkeeper of the tournament and striker Mário Henrique was awarded for the competition’s top scorer with 40 goals scored in the dispute promoted by the Amazonas Handball League.
Under the command of coach José Carlos Ferreira, the team has collected state and national titles, including first place in the 2022 Brazilian University Games. “Despite being young, our team is very experienced and we are finishing training with a focus on next year and elevating handball from Amazonas as a national reference for the sport”, added the coach.
Nilton Lins University has among its pillars the support and encouragement of sports in Amazonas through the Sports Incentive Program, developed by the Nilton Lins Foundation, in partnership with the institution and schools, in which academics who are part of the teams Sports teams receive scholarships, as well as technical support and uniforms for competitions.
