O Paris Saint-Germain failed in the mission to advance first in the Champions League group stage and comes from two straight defeats – falling in the French Cup and stumbling in the French.
Under pressure and criticized even by leaders, the Brazilian Neymar reveals to be bothered by the situation and promises to come back on top in the round of 16 of the European competition, already this Tuesday, against Bayern Munich, in the Princes Park.
“Our last matches were not good, we had defeats and we are not used to losing. PSG is used to winning, and when there are defeats it bothers me”, said Neymar in a press conference this Monday, remembering his stumbles against Olympique de Marseille ( 2 to 1) and Monaco (3 to 1) and talking about immediate reaction.
“Criticism is legitimate, everyone has their own opinion, their point of view, and I respect that. But I do my best for the club and the team. I’ll do it until the end of the season”, he said. “I like this type of (decisive) games, this is when quality players should appear and I have a lot of self-confidence”, he continued. “I’ve always been at the top since I’ve been in Europe, I know my skills and qualities. We are all prepared for this shock, we have a great team to play a very good game and we will try to show the best version of PSG.”
Neymar talks about discussion with PSG manager
In the defeat of the Frenchman at the weekend, the sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain, Luís Campos, had an argument with Neymar and Marquinhos in the locker room, still at halftime, in which he accused the team of “soft body”, according to the French press. Leaders of the cast, the Brazilians would have been irritated by the charge.
“I think that difficult moments like this happen in all clubs. We have to work to get out of this situation. This allows us to better prepare for the end of the season and we want to improve”, emphasized Neymar on the critical phase of the team. “Our biggest goal is the Champions League. It’s like the World Cup, whoever makes the fewest mistakes goes further in the competition. We’re not here just to be there, but to work and win all possible titles”, he said.
The Brazilian also revealed a chat with the Frenchman Mbappé, who returned to training this Monday and was listed for the first leg against Bayern Munich. “Kylian is a great player, we know how important he is. I hope he can play a few minutes, it depends on the coach. But he told me he feels good and that’s a good sign.”
