New PAC directs BRL 28.6 billion to six axles in Amapá – News of Brazil

The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, launched this Friday, August 11, at the Municipal Theater in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), the New PAC. In Amapá, the program will invest R$ 28.6 billion in works to improve the lives of the population of Amapá.

In the set of works in the program are the most important for Amapá, such as the construction of the BR-156 North and South, the Port of Santana and housing in ‘Minha Casa, Minha Vida’. As of September, within the scope of the New PAC, the Federal Government will launch public notices totaling R$ 136 billion for the selection of other priority projects for states and municipalities in the following areas:

The New PAC is organized into Institutional Measures and nine Investment Axes. The Institutional Measures are an articulated set of normative management and planning acts that contribute to the sustained expansion of public and private investments in Brazil. There are five major groups:

Improvement of the Regulatory Environment and Environmental Licensing;

Credit Expansion and Economic Incentives;

Improvement of Concession Mechanisms and PPPs;

Alignment with the Ecological Transition Plan;

Planning, Management and Public Procurement.

The program included new lines of action such as digital inclusion and connectivity to bring high-speed internet to all public schools and health units. In addition to expanding 5G, it will bring 4G network to highways and remote regions. The investment in Amapá is R$ 1.2 billion.

In the Health axis, new basic health units, polyclinics, maternity hospitals and the purchase of more ambulances will be built to improve access to specialized treatment. The New PAC also invests in the health industrial complex, strengthening the supply of vaccines and blood products, and also in telehealth to increase efficiency at all levels of service to the population. The investment in Amapá is R$ 1.3 billion.

The construction of kindergartens, full-time schools and the modernization and expansion of Federal Institutes and Universities are priorities in Education, Science and Technology. The investment in Amapá is R$ 14.6 billion.

The Education actions are added to those of the Social and Inclusive Infrastructure axis, which will guarantee the population’s access to spaces for culture, sport and leisure, focusing on social interaction and the reduction of violence. The investment in Amapá is R$ 300 million.

In order for cities to adapt to climate change and offer a better quality of life for the population, the Sustainable and Resilient Cities axis will build new homes in ‘Minha Casa Minha Vida’ and finance the acquisition of real estate. The New PAC will also invest in the modernization of urban mobility in a sustainable way, in urbanization of slums, sanitary sewage, solid waste management and containment of slopes and fighting floods. The investment in Amapá is R$ 1.5 billion.

The Water for All axis will guarantee quality and quantity of water for the population, reaching even the most remote areas of the country. The investment in Amapá is R$ 2.1 billion.

The Efficient and Sustainable Transport axis brings together investments in highways, railways, ports, airports and waterways in all states of Brazil in order to reduce the costs of domestic production for the domestic market and increase Brazil’s competitiveness abroad. The investment in Amapá is R$ 2.2 billion.

And to meet the challenge of transition and energy security, 80% of the added electricity capacity will come from renewable sources. Investments in the pre-salt layer will expand production capacity for derivatives and low-carbon fuels in Brazil. The Transition and energy security axis guarantees the diversity of the energy matrix, Brazilian sovereignty, security and energy efficiency for the country to grow at an accelerated pace, generating employment, income and social inclusion. The investment in Amapá is R$ 800 million.

Investments in the Innovation axis for the defense industry will make it possible to equip the country with cutting-edge technologies and increase national defense capacity. The investment in Amapá is R$ 4.5 billion.
