Manaus (AM) – Businessman Jesus Alves (MDB), one of the most voted state deputies in the 2022 elections, was considered as a possibility to assume the position of secretary in the management of the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida (Avante). His appointment aims to speed up housing projects with federal funds.

The projects for the creation of the new Municipal Housing and Land Affairs Department (Semhaf) and the Customer Care and Protection Service were approved by the Manaus City Council (CMM), on Monday (29).

Jesus Alves was president of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (MDB) and currently receives political support from senators Eduardo Braga (MDB) and Omar Aziz (PSD), who, according to behind-the-scenes information, gave their endorsement for David Almeida to choose the businessman for the position. .

Semhaf will promote land tenure and collective housing regularization, through Reurb, expanding the actions already carried out by the Municipality and Government of Amazonas. If Jesus Alves is nominated, he will have the opportunity to contribute in the civil construction sector, an area in which he already has experience, to promote projects working in collaboration with the mayor.

The portfolio will manage urban intervention strategies to develop housing programs and reduce the deficit in the capital, starting to manage the Municipal Housing Fund.

Among the land assets for management by the secretariat are areas of expropriation, properties resulting from the approval of subdivisions and lands originating from acts of intervention. The new folder will enable even greater and better control of such assets, as well as their destinations, preventing the emergence of irregular occupations and new invasions in these territories.
