Neighbors of Congonhas want pollution and noise tax – 03/04/2023 – Panel SA

Residents in the vicinity of Congonhas prepared a bill to suggest to the City of São Paulo the creation of an inspection fee for pollution and aeronautical noise at the airport.

The collection of the fee, equivalent to R$ 30 per passenger, would be done by the concessionaire. There would also be a specific fund for the administration of the resource.

Guilherme Canton, president of ANMA, one of the associations that brings together neighbors from the Moema neighborhood, says that the initiative has gained strength amid advances in the airport concession.

“We already met with the city hall and it was said at the meeting that there would be an opinion in ten days”, says Canton.

According to him, the fund’s resources would be used to carry out infrastructure works, windows against noise in schools, hospitals and residences in affected areas, in addition to noise sensors and other tools to assess impacts.

Sought by Panel SA, the city hall did not manifest itself.
