The headquarters of the General Directorate for Nuclear and Technological Development of the Navy, which operated in Rio de Janeiro, was transferred last Tuesday (18th) to São Paulo. The new facilities are located in the Navy Technological Center Complex, located on the USP (University of São Paulo) campus.
According to the Navy, in addition to being closer to high-tech production centers and universities’ laboratories and research centers, the transfer geographically brings the Navy’s technology area closer to the Nuclear Industrial Center of Aramar and the Nuclear, Biological, Chemical and Radiological Defense Battalion, which are located in Iperó, a city about 125 kilometers from São Paulo.
The board, however, will continue to be represented in Rio, where the Navy maintains the structures of the Navy Technological Center, the Naval Systems Analysis Center, the Navy Research Institute and the Institute of Marine Studies Almirante Paulo Moreira.
