Museum ‘A CASA’ opens registrations for the 9th Brazilian Object Award

Event highlights and rewards the best of the Brazilian crafts and design scene. Winners participate in exhibition in São Paulo

The Casa do Objeto Brasileiro Museum receives applications, until May 31st, for the 9th Brazilian Objeto Prize, which aims to bring recognition to artisans, popular artists, designers and other professionals in the creative areas. Created by economist Renata Mellão, founder and director of the institution, the action highlights the best of artisanal production and contemporary design in Brazil.

“Since 2008, we have held biannual editions that have illuminated projects that result from the perfect union between design and craftsmanship. It is a movement that mobilizes the artisanal sector, encourages the exchange of knowledge and allows us to discover innovative projects full of Brazilianness”,

states.

Divided into the Authorial, Collective and Socio-Environmental categories, the Award receives applications from already renowned professionals and also from young talents who gain the chance to gain national notoriety through a physical exhibition held at the museum’s headquarters, in Pinheiros, in the city of São Paulo. . In addition to objects, the award also evaluates projects that have as their main theme the generation of income and the sustainability of artisanal communities.

This year, there will be 15 winners in the three categories. To this end, a technical jury made up of renowned professionals in the field must choose the winning objects and honorable mentions, based on criteria such as aesthetic-formal quality, sustainable development, appreciation of Brazilian cultural heritage, impact and income generation in artisanal communities, among others.

“For the jury, we always seek to choose both designers, who can bring a day-to-day view of the market and industry, and academic professionals, who help us understand in a deeper way the social and economic relevance of these works”,

Registration must be made online, using a form to be filled out on the portal www.acasa.org.br. In addition to personal information and objects, participants must provide photos of their work. The awarded objects and projects will be part of an in-person exhibition scheduled to debut in November 2024, when the awards will be presented. In addition, those selected will receive a cash prize.
