The Public Ministry that works with the Federal Audit Court (MP-TCU) defended, this Wednesday (10), the suspension of any contract signed between the federal government and Starlink, billionaire Elon Musk’s satellite internet company. . The deputy attorney general of the MP-TCU, Lucas Furtado, asked the Court of Auditors to request clarification from the Union about the existence of these contracts.

He pointed out that, if the contracts exist, they must be terminated immediately due to the “violation of national sovereignty defended by Elon Musk”.

“In my understanding, there cannot be any relationship between the Brazilian Government, in all its instances, with Mr. Elon Musk’s company, which, in total affront and disrespect for national sovereignty, threatened not to submit to Brazilian law. Brazil cannot live on crumbs if it wants to be respected and urgent measures must be taken in this regard”, said Furtado at the representation.

At the weekend, Musk – who is also the owner of The billionaire also suggested that the minister “should resign or be impeached”. After the repercussions, the magistrate included the billionaire in the “digital militias” investigation.

Furtado asked the TCU to request “clarifications from the federal government regarding the existence or not of contracts with the company Starlink, owned by Mr. Elon Musk, who recently challenged the sovereignty of the Brazilian State, by stating that he would not submit to the judicial orders issued by the Federal Supreme Court, in clear violation of the Rule of Law”.

For the deputy attorney, there is no clear information about the existence of contracts between the government and Starlink. With this, according to him, “the so-called ‘push game’ about the supposed contracts with Starlink is highlighted, where one ministry plays for the other, which passes the ‘ball’ to Telebrás, which, in the end, says it has no anything”.

“If the existence of these contracts is confirmed, the TCU must determine their immediate termination, due to the violation of national sovereignty defended by Mr. Elon Musk”, he argued.

Furthermore, the deputy attorney suggested to the Court of Auditors that it analyze the possibility of banning X in Brazil. “It would be pertinent for the TCU to analyze the possibility of this flagrantly anti-social network being banned from operating in the country, given its users use it as a means of attacking Brazilian democracy,” stated Furtado.
