The Ministry of Mines and Energy sent the Provisional Measure (MP) to the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic that allows the use of resources from Eletrobras funds to minimize tariff impacts. Minister Alexandre Silveira’s expectation is that the MP will be published before the end of the National Congress recess.
The measure will not only deal with the tariff situation in Amapá, but the Ministry of Mines and Energy intends, according to the minister, to use these resources as soon as the MP is sent to Congress, to fulfill the commitment that the government made with the government of state of Amapá.
Alexandre Silveira said in an interview on Friday, January 26, that it is not acceptable for the population of Amapá to pay a 44.41% tariff increase, in a state where conditions are still very precarious for the poorest population.
The text of the Provisional Measure still needs to undergo evaluation of technical and legal aspects of Palácio do Planalto before publication. The session to resume the work of Congress will be on February 5th.
