MP aligns supervision of the selection process for Guardianship Council – News of Brazil

The prosecutors of the Public Ministry of Amapá (MP-AP) who will act in the supervision of the Unified Selection Process of Tutelary Counselors, on the 1st of October, participated, on Friday (22), in a hybrid meeting to align the actions for the last days before the selection that takes place throughout the national territory. The Attorney General of Justice, Paulo Celso Ramos, opened the work that was led by the Chief of Staff of the PGJ, Christie Girão, and the Santana Children’s Prosecutor and coordinator of the Center for Operational Support for Children and Youth (CAO- IJ), Miguel Angel Ferreira.
Present were the prosecutor of Infância de Macapá, Fábia Regina Martins, the prosecutor of Infância de Santana, José Cantuária Barreto, the prosecutor of Laranjal do Jari, Roberta Araújo Jacob, the prosecutor of Justice Carolina Oliveira, who will work in the West Zone of Macapá, and the CAO-IJ advisors, Séfora Rôla, Denise Santos and Ana Carolina Sena. Virtually, the following prosecutors participated: Samile Alcolumbre (Infância de Macapá); Benjamin Lax (Porto Grande); Fabiano Castanho (Pedra Branca); Clarisse Alcântara Lax (Ferreira Gomes); Hélio Furtado (Amapá); Welder Feitosa (Pracuúba); Marcela Balduíno (Macapá/North Zone); Matheus Silva Mendes (Cutias); and Lucas Gomes Leal (Itaubal).
“The objective of this meeting is to outline some strategies for action during the process of choosing the Guardianship Council, and promoters Christie and Miguel will go over some situations and directions for our work. We, as the Public Prosecutor’s Office, have this duty of supervision and I have no doubt that it will be an excellent job on everyone’s part”said Paulo Celso Ramos.
The CAO-IJ coordinator highlighted that it is up to the Public Ministry to monitor and supervise the entire process until the diploma of those elected and presented a summary of the activities that have been developed by the Center since January, with the support of the technical team. Coordination and guidance meetings were held with municipal managers and with the Regional Electoral Court (TRE/AP), training courses and monitoring in the application of tests for candidates for the guardianship council of the municipalities that opted for this requirement in the selection.
“The mayors, who are responsible for the logistics of the process, were very receptive and we had no difficulties in organizing and preparing for the choice of these important representatives of society”highlighted Miguel Angel.
The prosecutors also reported on the actions carried out in the Districts to prepare the process and answered questions, mainly about the conduct prohibited to candidates on voting day. In these cases, the MP-AP member must act to interrupt irregular propaganda and initiate proceedings that could lead to impeachment, if elected, or even the annulment of the process.
The PGJ Chief of Staff informed about the administrative measures and thanked everyone for their participation, reinforcing the responsibility of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for a flawless process.
“It is very important for the municipality to elect an active guardianship councilor. We will be available to provide all necessary support for the success of this inspection by the MP-AP”expressed Christie Girão.
