Senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) said on Monday night (17) that he was outraged by the complaint offered by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against him for the alleged crime of slander against the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). STF) Gilmar Mendes. Last Friday (14), a video was released on social media in which the former Lava Jato judge talks about “buying a habeas corpus from Gilmar Mendes”.

The parliamentarian made a statement on the action and quoted the Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, however, who signs the document is the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Lindôra Araújo.

“I want to register my indignation with the complaint offered by the Attorney General of the Republic on this date. On Friday, people unknown to me, but with malicious intent, edited fragments of a speech, took these speeches out of context and posted them on the internet. With a single objective, let’s make it very clear, to disagree with the Federal Supreme Court”, said Moro.

He stated that the line “doesn’t represent what I think” and was edited in a “joking context”. “An unfortunate speech, in the context of a joke, but which was clearly manipulated and edited by those same people – evidently not referring to the Attorney General of the Republic – who are currently seeking to falsely incriminate me in other processes, with the aim of alienating me with the STF”, he pointed out.

“I was surprised by a complaint from the attorney general of the republic asking for my arrest, the arrest of a senator of the republic. Without even clarifying how these facts occurred, without even having held my hearing, so that I could clarify and completely ignoring the explanations that I gave about that speech, which does not represent what I think ”, said Moro.
