More than 850.8 thousand places will be offered in the AM public education network in 2024; see how to register

The Government of Amazonas and the City of Manaus announced, this Thursday morning (14), that more than 850.8 thousand places will be made available in the public education network of Amazonas for the 2024 academic year. Of these, 272 thousand places will be for new students, 201.8 thousand for the state network and 70.2 thousand for the municipal education network in the capital.

The calendar includes the processes of automatic re-enrollment, rearrangements, transfers, registration of new students and assistance to latecomers.

Automatic re-enrollments begin next Monday (18th), and continue until January 4th, with a process carried out by the schools themselves. After this period, the reordering (of all teaching) will take place on the 5th. Parents or guardians will have to confirm the reordering on the 8th and 9th of January, in the students’ new schools.

The reorganization is intended for students whose current school does not offer continuity of education. This process is already underway, through the Research and Statistics Management (Gepes) at Seduc and the Enrollment Management at Semed.

The next step concerns the transfer and enrollment of students with disabilities, who have priority for assistance, based on Law 13,146 – Statute of Persons with Disabilities, which takes place on the 10th and 11th of January. After the priorities, transfers continue with the remaining students who are already from the Amazonas public network, from January 12th to 16th. This procedure can be done online, through the registration website (or in person at more than 1,100 schools in the state and municipal networks of Manaus.

Expansion of vacancies

The secretary of Seduc, Kuka Chaves, announced the expansion of places for full-time education for the 2024 academic year.

“The government of Amazonas, together with the federal government, has expanded the supply of vacancies for this full-time modality until 2027. However, with the initial priority that, in 2024, the Department of Education makes five thousand vacancies available to more to 11 schools, which will become full-time schools in the capital and in the interior in the next academic year”, said Kuka.

New students

The registration process for new students and the transfer process, both from the state and municipal networks, can also be carried out online, whereby prior registration must be carried out; or in person, in public schools.

Between January 10th and 11th, services will be provided for students with disabilities (from all classes); and from January 17th to 19th, for all other new students.

Vacancies

For the 2024 school year, the state education network will offer 558,273 places, both in the capital and in the interior. The estimate is that 356.4 thousand vacancies will be for re-enrollments and rearrangements, and 201.8 thousand for new students. In the capital’s municipal network, Semed will re-enroll 222,316 students and offer 70,248 new places, potentially reaching 292,564 enrolled students.

During the press conference, Semed’s secretary, professor Dulce Almeida, spoke about the new vacancies in the municipal network and highlighted those in municipal daycare centers.

“For the 2024 school year, Semed will have the capacity to serve more than 70 thousand students, of which more than two thousand will be served in our daycare centers. Until the end of Mayor David Almeida’s administration, we will open four more daycare centers and with this increase our capacity to serve children from 1 to 3 years of age and with this, more families will be able to change their financial lives, as they will be able to work carefree, knowing that their children will be protected”, informed Dulce.

The website, which is fully responsive and can be accessed by computers and mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, now It has accessibility features for people with low vision, blindness and hearing impairment.

Another new feature is that, in addition to the Spanish version, available since last year, the website also has an English version, starting 4/1. In all versions, guardians and students will find important information such as the enrollment calendar, the list of schools, including the geographic location of each one, the documents required to enroll, as well as a question and answer area with the main doubts about the process.

According to Prodam’s CEO, Lincoln Nunes, in 2023, Prodam adopted artificial intelligence tools to monitor processes that will positively impact the operation of enrollments in schools in the state and municipal education network.

“With the help of artificial intelligence, we identify patterns of incidents or security breaches or even unavailability of services, all in real time. This way we guarantee an even better service to the citizen”, he stated.

Another new feature of the enrollment process is that, from January 4th, parents or guardians will also be able to access the system using the login and password of the federal government services portal, gov.br.

According to Prodam Systems Manager, Abel Neto, the technical team associated the registration system registration with the gov.br registration, adding another way to log in.

“What we did was link the accounts of users of our system to the federal government portal, so that all data remains the same. However, anyone who does not want to join gov.br can access the site normally with the login and password from the registration website”, she explains.

Register

For students new to the public education network, the first step in requesting enrollment is the online registration of those responsible, which can now be done on the website. Just enter the name, email and CPF of the person responsible. The system will send a code to the email inbox provided and this code must be entered on the initial registration screen. Only after this step will it be possible to proceed with the registration of the guardian and student.
